The director of the new drama The Night Manager has described the trailer for his film as “a beautiful sight.”
Speaking at the Screen Actors Guild Awards in Los Angeles on Thursday, Tom Hardy said the trailer “is like a picture of the theater in which you’re going to be at the premiere of the film.”
“You can look up at the ceiling light,” he continued.
“It’s a beautiful thing.
You can see the light coming down through the curtains.
And you can feel the tension.”
He said the movie was about the idea that “we’re all trapped in this kind of cycle, in this cycle of despair.”
“We are all trapped,” he added.
“And the way we can be free is to step out of that cycle.”
The Night Managers plot revolves around a group of wealthy friends who meet up in the 1970s to talk about their hopes for a brighter future.
The movie is based on the novel by Stephen King.
