The UFC returns to FOX Sports 1 to air on Monday, Jan. 26, with Jon Jones versus Daniel Cormiers co-main event.
The event will mark the first time Jones will be tested by a USADA-licensed fighter since UFC 214 in May of last year.
The main event features the winner of Jones vs Cormier, who will move to the main event and face Glover Teixeira for the light heavyweight title.
Tiago has already made it clear he is not a fan of Jones.
In his most recent interview, Teixeca said Jones’ win over Cormier was a “fake,” while Teixeeira was not interested in fighting.
The Brazilian then said he was not happy with the fight, but he would still like to fight Jones.
“I respect him,” Teixea said.
“I would like to see him fight a real fighter, a real person.
He’s a great fighter, and he deserves to be there, I respect him.
I’m not a big fan of him.”
Tiago said Jones would have no problem fighting Cormier if he were to step up and fight the winner, but the fight will not be the focus of the main card.
Jones and Cormier have been feuding for nearly a year and the fight would not be a major factor in the bout.
Jones’ win is a massive step in the right direction for him, as it gives him the opportunity to finally fight on a major television network for the first a year.
Cormier has been sidelined for several months due to injuries.
The fighter said he has been battling mental issues since being knocked out in December.
The fight is expected to draw huge interest for both fighters.
Teixebos last fight, a unanimous decision win over Anthony Johnson, was a huge deal in the UFC.
Jones has not fought since his defeat to Cormier at UFC on FOX 6.
Jones said the decision was a tough one, but it did not affect his future plans.
Jones said he is more confident now than he was a year ago.
He is confident in his own abilities and wants to fight Cormier in a big way.
“You never know, but I’ve got a little bit of confidence now,” Jones said.
“It’s going to be tough, but as long as it’s on FOX, I’m going to fight whoever the winner is.”
